Holiday Home in Brandenburg: For Connoisseurs
We love beautiful design, are passionate about craftsmanship and melt when we see antiques. That’s why we have furnished our holiday home with beautiful unique pieces – new and old. A solid wood chest of drawers, which can also serve as a large dog crate, was made for us by a carpenter friend. The metal door elements, which look like branches, were made by a locksmith. The two armchairs come from Denmark and accompanied their owners on journeys through South America until they finally landed in Berlin and were bought by us at auction. The wardrobe in the hallway was part of a wooden staircase in its former life, which we discovered in the barn and creatively redesigned.
Regionality: Local Companies at Work
We hired local craftsmen to do those things we could not do ourselves. This supports the local economy and keeps the money in the region. The wall tiles in the guest bath are originals from the GDR era – we found them in the barn and decided to save them from the rubbish dump. The stair treads come from old oak trees in the neighbouring village and the floor tiles made of the finest stoneware – found in the hallway and the guest bath – were lovingly handmade in the local Zahna Fliesen manufactory.
History: From Stable to Holiday Homes
When the building was constructed, it was a stable with an imposing feeding trough that stretched across the entire basement. In fact, pigs were kept in the modest annex. Later, after the property had changed hands several times, farmers no longer lived here and the little house served as a storeroom for a long time, until someone took pity on it and created a simple residential building.
When we acquired the property in 2018, we knew from the very start: We would turn it into a gem. The project was more difficult and took longer than planned, but finally, in June 2021, we turned the simple living quarters into a holiday paradise for humans and dogs. If you are looking for a holiday home in Brandenburg – then look no further: the HYGGE HAUS in Niebel!
